SPF FOR OILY SKIN | Garnier UV Face Fluid

If you have been following me on Instagram, you will more than likely have seen the current DILEMMA I am facing. My favourite SPF (Skin Defence from The Body Shop) has been reformulated and to say it doesn't even compare to the original formula is an understatement. So, as you can imagine, this sent me off into a complete panic about finding a new SPF having safely relied on Skin Defence for four (yes, four) years at this point.

But fear not. My search, surprisingly, came to an end very quickly after I ordered the Garnier Ambre Solaire UV Face Fluid from Boots. WELL...

Long story short, I am so impressed with this. I was fully prepared to hate it. Like I do with every. single. SPF I have tried besides Skin Defence. So you can imagine the confusion/delight when I whacked this to the back of my hand and it applied like an SPF wet dream.

First of all, it is SPF50 and covers UVA and UVB rays, meaning it is broad spectrum. This is a MUST for SPF - You need to be protected from both UVA and B rays. That is just a must, I won't even look at an SPF that isn't broad spectrum, no matter how light it claims to be.

The texture, like I said, is a dream and was of course, the true test for whether or not I would like it.
It is a very light cream. The second you start rubbing it into the skin, it disappears. It instantly starts to sink into the skin, until it is completely absorbed and invisible. This does take 2-3 minutes - if you are applying it in the morning, go and pop the kettle on and make yourself a cup of tea (or coffee, your choice) and by the time you sit back down to do your makeup, it will be fully absorbed.

It also leaves a slightly matte finish to the skin - This is one of the things that instantly concerned me, as I could feel the velvet kind of finish on my hand. I say this concerned me purely because I have tried 'matte finish' SPF in the past and it was horrible.. Just, UGH. So I was prepared for it to pill and crumble off my face. This, of course, did not happen and instead it left the most gorgeous soft matte (but in no way powdery or chalky) finish.

Makeup goes on a dream over the top. It does not in any way interfere with makeup. If anything, I found my makeup lasted longer as it helped keep oil at bay more than usual (I should have most definitely mentioned by now the reason I struggle so much with SPF is I have very oily skin and I find anything too heavy on my skin, so as you can imagine this makes finding a suitable SPF tricky)

Overall thoughts:

- Broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection. SPF 50. Yes, please.
- Very lightweight on the skin - Sinks in completely, leaving no greasy residue AT ALL.
- Amazing for oily skin as it is so lightweight and added bonus of 'matte' finish
- Works perfectly under makeup. Even helps with oil control due to mattifying finish
- Only £7 from Boots and readily available

The only down side, for some, is that is it not a vegan formula and made my Garnier, which if you're cruelty free/vegan you will not support (an issue I did not have to mention when speaking about Skin Defence from The Body Shop, so I did just want to point this out.)

Have you tried the UV Face Fluid from Garnier? If so, I would love to hear what you thought about it!

Thank you for reading xo
