My Daily Skincare Products (For oily skin) | Zoe M

I get a lot of questions about what my daily skincare routine looks like. I have a basket that I keep on my bedside table (or "nightstand") of all the products that I use in my daily skincare routine, so I thought I would share that with you today.

A lot of them will be very familiar if you read my blog regularly as they are my go-to products. I should probably point out that these are mainly my "morning" products, hence why there is no cleanser etc as I keep my evening routine in the bathroom so make it easier.

Okay, let's get started.

Garnier Micellar Water // £7.99
Now I know micellar water isn't the best. I know. But see for in the morning, especially around my eyes, I find it so refreshing. It is also super quick which is why I like it in the morning. It doesn't leave any residue and really is just my go-to for quickness. I use it on the Primark baby cotton pads, which you can see in the picture there, as they are my favourite cotton pads by far. They are large squares and are quite thick compared to other cotton pads.

Ole Henriksen Glow2Oh Dark Spot Toner // £22
This is my acid toner of choice at the moment. It will more than likely change. I don't think I have spoken about this particular product before as, to be honest, I am not blown away by it. It is good, really good, but I have used other acid toners that I have preferred and also toners that are cheaper, too. It does the job and I do like it. It is lightweight, doesn't leave any residue on the skin and is gentle. I don't feel any "tingle" when using this but this is probably because I use acids in my routine regularly. I always use an acid toner- it is probably my favourite step in my skincare routine! I just love the results they give and how well they work on my oily skin, that can very easily become congested. I will say, however, the smell is to die for! I don't usually mention smells when it comes to skincare, because it really doesn't matter, but this is an exception because it smells truly delicious!

La Roche Posay Serozinc // £10
I absolutely love Serozinc. It has been a firm favourite in my routine for years now and I can't see it going anywhere soon. In my morning routine, I use this after my acid toner. But I love it for when my skin feels oily as it helps to eliminate excess oil without stripping the skin. Again, it is so refreshing so perfect for spritizing on in the morning.

Vichy Mineral 89 // £25
My favourite, go-to hydrating serum. I slather this all over my skin and instantly feel the results. It is so incredibly hydrating and soothing on the skin. If you have dehydrated skin I cannot recommend this product enough. It sinks in immediately and instantly plumps the skin with hydration. It is lightweight and layers beautifully underneath moisturiser and makeup. I sometimes even use this on it's own if I feel super lazy or if I am having a no make up day, I have found myself going in with a good spritz of Serozinc and then a pump of this later in the day.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo // £16
My go-to treatment product. This is the product I use to help control congestion within my skin. I go through phases of using it daily vs when I need it, which means regardless, it is always in my basket so I can reach for it whenever I need it. At the moment, I am using it daily. It contains salicylic acid which breaks down bacteria from within the pores stopping blemishes/congestion from forming. I appreciate the more matte finish it gives, seeing as I have oily skin. It is really lightweight, making it easy to layer up with other products. I will also use this as part of my night-time routine (if I am using it on an "as an when" basis, rather than daily as twice a day would be too dehydrating on the skin).

Clinique Moisture Surge // £36
Finding a lightweight moisturiser when you have oily but dehydrated skin can be a nightmare. Clinique Moisture Surge will forever and always be my day time moisturiser as it just works so so well for me. The texture is lovely- it is a light, water based gel that sinks into the skin effortlessly. It doesn't leave any residue on my skin, which is amazing for my oily concerns but is so hydrating and plumping on the skin which sorts my dehydration right out. I love it and even though is it on the pricey side, I highly recommend it if you're like me and struggle with moisturisers being too heavy etc on the skin.

So, there you go! That is my daily basket. Do you have a daily basket? I would love to know what products you keep in yours if you do! Let me know by leaving a comment below.

The Body Shop Matte Lip Butters REVIEW | Zoe M

The Body Shop have a great selection of lip products. My personal favourites being the Liquid Lips. I think considering the price and how they wear, they are one of my favourite liquid lips on the high street. The Body Shop have since expanded the range and come out with "Matte Lip Butters" an interesting concept. But the idea being you don't have to sacrifice comfort in order to wear a bold, on trend lip. And the same that you don't have to give up the matte look in order to have something moisturising on the lips.

Honest HiSmile Teeth Whitening Kit REVIEW | Zoe M

When I posted on my Instagram (@zoeem_) about ordering the HiSmile Teeth Whitening Kit, I was surprised by the amount of messages I got in response. "Please can you do a review?" "Let me know how you get on with this!" "I am so glad someone REAL has bought this, dying to find out your thoughts!"

I don't blame people. Even when I was doing research myself I found it difficult to find "real customer" reviews (in other words a post without AD in front, promoted by some kind of "influencer") so I suppose this is why I got the response I did.

I decided to do this as The Body Shop have some great cleansers that are not only great quality but also really affordable. They are also 100% cruelty free which I know is really important to a lot of you! So.. Shall we see what ones are my faves?

Dr Botanicals Moroccan Rose Facial Oil + Discount Code | Affiliate

I have been using the Dr Botanicals Moroccan Rose Facial Oil for a good few weeks now and I think it is safe to say I am hooked on it.

"Rose" products tend to work really well for my skin (one of my all time favourite masks is the British Rose Plumping Mask from The Body Shop) so I was so excited when Dr Botanicals got in touch and offered to send me this to try.

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Face Wash REVIEW | Zoe Major

If you have oily, problematic, blemish prone skin The Body Shop have just released a product that will solve many of your skincare needs in one go- the Himalayan Charcoal Face Wash

I am already a fan of The Body Shop's Himalayan Charcoal MASK (clicky here) as it is great, affordable and most importantly, it works. I recommend it all the time and talk about it on my blog and Instagram far too often. So, as you can imagine I was pretty excited to see them expanding the range! And what better place to start than with a face wash. It comes in at only £9.50, which I think is a really reasonable price!

NEW Nip + Fab Mask REVIEW | Zoe Major

I was so excited when I came across a couple new releases from Nip + Fab. I have tried various different products from Nip + Fab, a few of which have ended up being firm favourites in my collection for a long time (their glycolic pads are GREAT) so I was up for trying something new from them.

PIXI Beauty x Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse REVIEW | Zoe Major

GOOD POINTS

- Suitable for all skin types.
Obviously I cannot say for sure that it wouldn't piss your skin off, however, it is such a simple/gentle product that I think most of us would be very safe.

- Cream cleanser is LOVELY.
I have never been much of a cream cleanser kind of gal. Give me an oil or a balm any day, but cream cleansers.. Nah. I always found them a bit boring to be honest. And whilst, yes, this might be boring it leaves my skin feeling amazing. It has a very comforting feel when applied, is that weird? Like I can feel it soothing and calming as I massage it over my skin. It would always leave my skin feeling soft and it never felt tight afterwards.

- Does not mess with your skin!
This is what I liked most. This product is so simple and so fuss free that it is just the perfect cleanser for someone who doesn't want to "mess" with their skin, or is scared of "throwing their PH off" or getting spots.. It basically just leaves your skin clean and happy, and that is it! I found my skin was far more balanced when I was using this. I was getting far less oily, which then helped reduced congestion. It is nice to know that your skin is just "happy", you know?

- I TRUST IT!
Yup. I trust it. I trust it so much because it has Caroline Hirons name slapped on it and I KNOW how much research and love has been put into this product. I would have no worries at all picking up anything with Caroline's name on it because I know it is going to be amazing quality, with great ingredients. This is absolutely the case with Double Cleanse. I didn't even check the ingredients list because I knew it wouldn't have any "nasties" in it.

BAD POINTS

- The price?
I bought my double cleanse when it was 1/3 off in Boots, making it a reasonable £16 (if my maths is correct..) Id be happy to pay that, however, would I rebuy at the full RRP of £24? Hmmm... I am really not sure. I know I have other cleansers that I like and that is probably what it stopping me. If my skin was really fussy and this was the first thing in ages that had properly worked for me, £24 is worth it. I understand and appreciate all the research and hard work that has gone into it, I just think the £24 price point is a bit high for me.

- Not great for stubborn mascara!
I do not wear waterproof mascara, yet I found this cleanser still struggled. I ended up getting into the habit of removing my mascara before using this cleanser as I knew it just didn't cut it. It would have 0 chance against a waterproof or just stubborn mascara! I usually use Maybelline Sensational or L'oreal Paradise, both of which come of easily with a cotton pad and micellar water, so I am not sure why Double Cleanse struggled so much with it.

- I whizzed through it!
I don't know about you.. But I went through this A LOT quicker than I usually go through cleansers. I was running desperately low about after about 3 weeks (if that) which was another point that made me a bit sour on the £24 price tag. I don't overuse either. If anything, I was being tight with it as I could feel it going down quickly. I have oil/balm cleansers that go strong for a good few months (The Body Shop Camomile Cleaning Oil- I am looking at you! 6 months in and there is still loads left!) so I was a bit disappointed to see this disappear so quickly.

Overall Thoughts/Opinion

Overall, I really loved this cleanser. I love how suitable it is for all skin types and of course how well it personally worked for me. The price is the only thing stopping me from re-purchasing. Lets put it this way.. If Pixi came out with just the cream cleanser on it's own, I would be allllll over it! I wasn't overly keen on the balm- Don't get me wrong, it was nice! It worked, it didn't upset my skin or anything, but I have used better. I would recommend it! I know that defeats the whole point of "double cleanse" but I would love to see them separately. I have told several people how much I have enjoyed it and I would recommend giving it a go, maybe just wait until that 1/3 offer in Boots rolls around again...

Have you tried Double Cleanse before? What were your thoughts? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks for reading.

Top 5 Products of 2018 | Zoe Major Beauty Blog

I can not believe 2018 is over. This year had truly flown by! I feel like I am getting to the point with beauty/skincare etc where I am settling down into finding true staples and favourites, rather than trying and discovering lots of new products. This means, my top 5 post this year might be a little samey. I have mentioned these products so many times before as, like I said, I've found my favourites! I also found myself having to really think about what was new and I had to remove some from the list that I remembered I had mentioned in last years post (Click here to read my 2017 Top 5!) Lets get started..
